Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland Book Cover
For this project, I had to create a digital illustration and decided that I wanted to do a book cover because I had done one before I fully knew how to use Illustrator and had image traced photos for the artwork on it and I wanted to draw my images in Illustrator this time.
I chose Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland because I was doing some other designs for it at the time and had it in my mind. I did a black and white background of simulating the fall down the rabbit hole and made Alice and the other elements such as the watch the only things in color so that they stand out and contrast the background effect. I traced my Alice with the pen tool in Illustrator off of a couple reference images for the perspective of her falling and the details of her dress. For the cover, I wanted to create a connection and movement with the placement of the rabbit, Alice, and watch. I wanted to show these elements because they are the start of the story.
I wanted the movement to lead “down the rabbit hole,” while still connecting with how Alice reaches toward the rabbit and appears to have dropped the watch. The design below is a book jacket that wraps around a book. It includes the back cover, spine, front cover, and on the ends of each side are the flaps that wrap around the book and tells more about the story and author.
